I think Cathederal...

This is an advert for a Castlevania game published in Anime insider(an American anime and manga magazine). That's Castlevania: judgement to be accurate.
This advert was designed to show people about the new castlevania game that Konami has produced. Being a massive anime fan the art is immediately recognisable as Takeshi Obata; the manga artist responsible for the renown DEATH NOTE. It's style is much like death note the sort of grand Gothic/realistic feel. When I look at it it has this, almost awe inspiring feel, like being in a cathedral.
The fact that the characters are coming down a slant as well as the worms eye view shot help to strengthen this feel. The detail helps to over whelm the viewer much like the detail in some french Cathedrals.
When I first saw this picture Obata was the first thing that came to my mind (I only really bought the issue of Anime insider because of the ad). Obata's works is amazing, Exspecially the detail of his work which he, as a manga artist is able to maintain.WOW... I want to be able to draw like this guy,Hrrmmm... maybe one day.

White Knight

If you were to pick up PSW, issue 115 and flick to page 062 you would find a preview for an upcoming game White Knight Chronicles. It's not the the game that iterests me most about the image you see down below but the layout.

The article is there to tell us 10 reasons we should get excited about white knight chronicles. The introduction paragraph has plain average borders and then the next 10 points are all assisted with a picture related to each of them. A layering effect is used to put importance for each of the layers (the most important first): 4, first the number; then the TEXT, with a header to atract attention to each of the texts; and finally the IMAGE, to variate the images they some times make the focus in the image break from it's circular border. The green used in page header and numbering creates a unity along side the black with white backround (white being a very clean colour) . I like this design because aside from lookin clean and also very nice, it's EFFICIENT [in providing information].
