This is an advert for a Castlevania game published in Anime insider(an American anime and manga magazine). That's Castlevania: judgement to be accurate.
This advert was designed to show people about the new castlevania game that Konami has produced. Being a massive anime fan the art is immediately recognisable as Takeshi Obata; the manga artist responsible for the renown DEATH NOTE. It's style is much like death note the sort of grand Gothic/realistic feel. When I look at it it has this, almost awe inspiring feel, like being in a cathedral.
The fact that the characters are coming down a slant as well as the worms eye view shot help to strengthen this feel. The detail helps to over whelm the viewer much like the detail in some french Cathedrals.
When I first saw this picture Obata was the first thing that came to my mind (I only really bought the issue of Anime insider because of the ad). Obata's works is amazing, Exspecially the detail of his work which he, as a manga artist is able to maintain.WOW... I want to be able to draw like this guy,Hrrmmm... maybe one day.
I'm not too keen on the manga and anime style but my old room mate was really into the series Lain and I thought the art in that by Yoshitoshi Abe was just awesome, as well as the anime sequence in Kill Bill by Katsuji Morishita which was just crazy awesome. This is well executed and I like the contrast of dark vs light here..
